Erected as the First Church in 1858
Stoughton, Wisconsin

"This was a Universalist Church before it became a museum.  It was organized May 16-1858 with 34 members.  Luke Stoughton donated the south half of 2 lots."

Stoughton Universalists welcomed women as pastors as early as 1869, with the first clergywoman serving 1869 - 1873.  Two additional clergywomen served briefly from 1883 to 1884 and from 1890 until 1892.
