SHS Mission
The Stoughton Historical Society was incorporated as an affiliate of the Wisconsin State Historical Society June 21, 1960. We are a public, non-profit, tax exempt 501 (c)(3) organization supported entirely by donations and memberships.
The mission of the Society is to collect, preserve and share the history and culture of the Stoughton area through our Museum exhibits, educational programs and oral history recordings.
"This was a Universalist Church before it became a museum. It was organized May 16-1858 with 34 members. Luke Stoughton donated the south half of 2 lots."
