Red Brick Schoolhouse

Opened in 1851 and in 1858 boasted of 80 pupils in the high school and fifty-six pupils in the juvenile school.    Read more

1862 School, 1876 Addition / Remodel 

As our town grew, the Central School Campus location, initially called "the Hill" was the site of Stoughton's first three story school building.

1892 High School

“Finally in 1892, a separate three-story high school building was erected near the older school.

1908 High School

Stoughton’s next High School was opened and dedicated on February 28th, 1908.  (The cost of the new school was $61,000.)

1917 Central School

The new 8-room 1-6 grade school building opened March 1917.  Junior High grades stayed in the 1892 School until 1967 when they moved into the 1908 School.

  Armory

Designed by architectural firm Law, Law & Potter of Madison Wisconsin and built in 1941 with labor funded by the Work Projects Administration (WPA).
