Stoughton Pure Milk Co.

Original location on East Main street was home of the company since it was organized December 1st, 1917.  The company was started by Mr. Ole O. Hoel and his brother-in-law, T.A. Thompson, and the two did all the work for a time.  By April 1930 some 15 were employed by Stoughton Pure Milk Co. and the company moved nearby to a new location facing Fourth Street behind Roe Automotive.

In addition to milk, the company made ice cream and butter.

Prior to starting the Pure Milk Co., Ole’s first employment was with the Mayer-Armour milk plant.  When the condenser was put in operation Mr. Hoel weighed the first can of milk received by the condensery.
